Sterile World War II OSS Combat Stiletto with Pancake Flipper Sheath Formerly part of an Australian private collection. is scarce dagger is in excellent condition, the Office of Strategic Services which was the predecessor to the CIA had this dagger modelled on the iconic Fairbairn Sykes Commando knife. Many of the blades were not hardened correctly and the early OSS knives and they had to be treated and re heated. They had their hardness tested using a Brinnell tester. The left a tiny punch mark which we can see on this example, this example however is a issued to clandestine troops and is therefore sterile with no marking.
