On "Winterhude" regular working time was an unk- nown concept. There was watch and freewatch. Bread was scarce and the buffalo meat salted with saltpetre. There were fears about climbing the masts, dreams about girls, tobacco in short supply, battles against the wild sea rounding Cape Horn. But there was also good comradeship, jokes, unforgettable feelings in the moonlight on tropical seas. Master mariner Eino Koivistoinen, the writer, kept note of all stages of the unforgettable voyage carrying the cargo of wheat from Australia.
